Microsoft'sŪ ASP.Net Commerce Starter Kit allows you to build a web storefront that includes search functions, instant order services, shopping carts, and user account logons. Additionally, the Commerce Starter Kit provides you with the tools you need to create a product catalog. The catalog can contain product descriptions and photographs. In the catalog, you can also highlight popular products as well as "also bought" items.

Note that the ASP.Net Commerce Starter Kit is a community-supported tool. MetalWeb provides neither technical support nor customer support for the Starter Kit for any issue other than its installation. Installation

Important: The installation of the ASP.Net Commerce Starter Kit requires that your web hosting account be SQL-enabled.

To install the ASP.Net Commerce Starter Kit, follow these steps:

1. In your web browser's Address text field, enter the following Internet address:

http://<forexample-domain>/stats/CMRCKitInstall.aspx

Note:  In the above-mentioned example, you would replace "<forexample-domain>" with your site's actual domain name. For instance, if your domain were "rabbits123xyz.com", you would enter "http://www.rabbits123xyz.com/stats/CMRCKitInstall.aspx" (no quotes).

2. Press Enter. You will be presented with a Username/Password dialog box.
 
3. In the dialog box, enter your account's username and password.
 
4. Click OK. You will be presented with an Microsoft End User License Agreement (EULA).
 
5. Read the EULA and enter your e-mail address into the EULA as required.
 
6. Click I Accept this EULA. The EULA will confirm your submission.
 
7. Close the EULA window.
 
8. Go to the Install > ASP.NET Commerce Starter Kit window and read the Read This First section.
 
9. Go to the Account Information section and complete the following text fields:

 User ID -- Enter your hosting account's User ID.
 Password -- Enter your hosting account's Password.
 SQL Server Name -- Enter the identity of your SQL server.

Note:  To find your SQL server name:
 Go to your hosting account's Control Panel. Then, in the left sidebar, locate the line that says Server #:. Your SQL server name is located immediately below that line.
 
 If you Control Panel does NOT contain your SQL server name, then you will need to call our Technical Support department in order to acquire that server name.
10. Read the instructions in the Path Information section. Then, enter the requested information in either or both the Physical Path and the Virtual Directory Name text fields.

Warning  If you later choose to reinstall the ASP.Net Commerce Starter Kit, the reinstallation will overwrite the tables and stored procedures of the same name that were added during previous installations.

11. Click Install. Upon a successful installation, you will receive an "Installation Successful" message. You can then view your Starter Kit by clicking the "View Commerce Starter Kit Here!" link.


Additional Information

This Starter Kit does not process credit card orders. To modify the Starter Kit so that it accepts credit card transactions, you will need either to write your own credit card-handling code and/or use feedback from the ASP.Net community for assistance.
